Lugo di Romagna is located neither near the seaside nor next to the hills, but just for that reason its position is the ideal for the ones, who want to live a weekend which is equidistant from the Riviera and the mountains, that is, for all people who want to enjoy the best of a weekend choosing what to do and the places to visit depending on own tastes and chances. Especially for elderly people Lugo offers a beautiful historical centre, all level land, in order to walk comfortably. Dominated by the Rocca Estense castle and the beautiful lodges of the Pavaglione, in Lugo centre you can find quality shopping.

In this open arcade, the market takes place every Wednesday morning, while the traditional Antique Market is held every second Sunday of the month. You can also go shopping in the central via Baracca shops and in the close shopping centre “Globo”.

A over 65 weekend can’t avoid the big artistic offer of Ravenna, which can be reached from Lugo in just 30 minutes by car, or easily by train in the same time.

Here the mosaic heritage is waiting for you in order to let you discover the Byzantine civilization: San Vitale, real jewel Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, Arian Baptistry, Sant’Apollinare Nuovo, Mausoleum of Theodoric and Dante’s Tomb are the musts of Romagna’s artistic heritage. The centre of Ravenna with its pedestrian zone is perfect for a walk browsing through the shops. If you come by car, you can easily go to Classe, where there is the Basilica of S. Apollinare with another incredible variety of mosaics.

From Lugo, above all during good season, you can decide in the evening to go to the Riviera and have a walk through the streets of Cervia and Milano Marittima. Also here there are a lot of fashion shops, bars and restaurants where to spend a sparkling evening. Cervia offers also the magic of its Porto Canale, that takes colours during sunset. In the hotter days, the pinewood offers a fresh oasis; or you can get some more culture in the MUSA, the Museum of Salt. Another option is to go towards Bologna and stop in Castel Guelfo, where you can dedicate to shopping in the outlet.

An excursion to Brisighella is also highly appreciated by the ones who like the emotion of an old mountain village, available to offer interesting sightseeing. It can be reached by train, firstly catching the train for Faenza, and then the one with destination to Florence, getting off after 15 km in the joyful small town at the foot of the Vena del Gesso Mountain. Indeed, Brisighella is so peculiar due just to these sedimentary rocks that emerge on the surface of the mountains from Brisighella to Borgo Tossignano.

Towering above the village, on the tops of gypsum, you can see the Clock Tower, the Castle and Monticino Sanctuary. In the centre you have to go and visit the Via degli Asini, it is an elevated arcades street that will bring you back in the Middle Age. Indeed, in July, here in Brisighella the very important medieval festival is held.
Riolo Terme is located just beyond the street that brings to Monticino, which has on its left Mount Rontana where you can see a beautiful landscape and on its right the Tenaccia cave, which is destination for the ones who are keen of speleology. As its name says, Riolo is famous for thermal baths, which are located in the southern part. It is the ideal for the ones who want to spend a relaxing and healthy weekend. It can be reached in just 30 minutes by car from Lugo, through Castel Bolognese. Spending a day in the thermal baths is the most relaxing experience for the body, and it sharpens your appetite, which is perfect in order to taste and appreciate the specialties of Ala D’Oro restaurant.
